This course surveys the major concepts and methods of natural sciences, including biology, chemistry, physics, Earth science, and astronomy. Students explore foundational principles of living systems, matter and energy, forces and motion, Earth processes, ecosystems, and the universe while developing scientific literacy and an understanding of the scientific method. The fully online laboratory component uses virtual experiments, simulations, scientific observations, and data-based investigations to reinforce concepts presented in the course. Students formulate hypotheses, analyze and interpret data, evaluate evidence, and communicate scientific findings. Emphasis is placed on scientific inquiry, interdisciplinary connections, and the application of scientific principles to everyday life and contemporary issues.
