Course Description

This course explores the diverse applications of mathematics in various contemporary contexts to emphasize the relevance and significance of mathematics in everyday life, business, technology, science, arts, and society, such as in using computers, measuring quantities, calculating physical positions and dimensions, analyzing data, and making decisions. This course covers college algebra; patterns, symmetry, and fractals in art and design; problem solving; symbolic logic; set theory; functions; relations; operations; inductive and deductive reasoning; computer algorithms; mathematics in scientific discovery and exploration, medical research, and healthcare sciences; mathematics in social and environmental sciences; mathematics in business; and personal finance.
